    Airport:Copenhagen Airport  –ncFrae

    • Project Name: Copenhagen Airport
    • End user: Copenhagen Airport
    • Consultant: DSE (Danish System Elektronik)
    • September 2005 – Present

Description: Mission critical control system, landing light and runway control system.  65 RTU32s with over 5,000 I/Os in one network. PC-based RTUs with redundant network on optical fiber and event driven TCP communication

In connection with a major upgrade of the control system for the landing light Copenhagen Airport and DSE Airport Division has chosen RTU32 from Brodersen. The airport wanted to use their general IT network based on TCP-IP and Ethernet also for control of landing light. One of the important factors for the choice of RTU32 was the possibility of getting a redundant and event driven communication between the control tower and the distributed units controlling landing light and other technical installations like generator sets. About 80 RTUs with more than 5000 I/Os are part of the project.
By using the two Ethernet ports on RTU32 and RTU32s unique dual binding protocol you get a very safe and reliable communication channel. All commands are send in parallel in two separate networks and the receiving RTU listens to both. In this way it is secured that a delay or an interruption on one of the network segments will not influence the applicati. The RTU always reacts on the information first received. The administration of the huge amount of signals is automated.

The list of signals is transferred directly from one single Excel spreadsheet to the global binding editor which is a part of the programming tool used for RTU32. In this away a lot time is saved during configuration and testing of the installation and
later on maintenance is simplified a lot.

    Technical Notes:
    • Control and monitoring of landing light and technicalinstallations including control and monitoring of ventilation and diesel generators, regulators, etc. was originally installed in 99.
    • The installation is in 2005 upgrade to a redundant RTU32 based system with event driven communication via Ethernet.
    • The system includes more than 80 RTU32 RTUs andhandles more than 5000 I/O channels.
    • The solution is delivered by DSE Airport Solution A/S in cooperation with Brodersen.

Load Study: Bowman Plating – USA

  • Project Name: Load study
  • End user: Bowman Plating
  • Period: January 2015

Description: Rhyton Global  supplied a panel with pre-installed  NTPM100  smart power quality meters for real time monitoring and recording electric parameters of selected feeders in order to  have precise values for the consumption of the production lines in different times of the working hours. Bowman Plating will utilise the information for power management and expansion plans.

Update on this project:

Having installed the smart meters on important feeders, Rhyton Global prepared a number of reports using the recorded data by the NTPMs (one month period). The reports revealed the sources of disturbance and loss on the internal power network. We recommended simple amendments and modifications with estimated  annual saving (only on power bills) of more than five times the total cost of this project (including the metering panel, the accessories, and the reports. Other savings by lower maintenance costs of the equipment (due to the enhanced power quality) although not calculated, are considerable.
